Merry Christmas!

In addition to continuing with holiday celebrations, we also managed to get some more work in the kitchen done this weekend. Jim the plumber got our sink all hooked up and running. And our dishwasher is 90% done too. We are excited to have an almost fully functioning kitchen. I'm so happy to have a kitchen sink again! This is a great Christmas present :)

We'll be taking a break to go spend time with our families for Christmas, but hope to get some more work done on the kitchen next week. We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Countertops!

We are in full swing now with Christmas celebrations, festivities and shopping which have definitely been keeping us busy (in a good way!)

But the best news this week is that we got our countertops yesterday!!!! It is such an exciting moment because it means we can continue on with finishing our kitchen. YAY! We will hopefully be able to get the sink and dishwasher working by the weekend and then the next step is installing the floor! I can't wait to cook normal meals again :) and unpack all our dishes and kitchen stuff...its quite a milestone! Here are pictures of the countertop from all angles...

Many reasons to celebrate

Reason #1: Our living room is almost all the way painted! It's 3/4 of the way done and looks great. (The other quarter will have to wait until the plywood barrier between the living room and dining room/kitchen area comes down) It was an interesting week, trying to maneuver around the furniture all shoved into the middle of the room, but I'm happy to cross this project off our list!

Like our new furniture arrangement? ;)
The walls are all patched and ready for sanding

Jim starts sanding

It only took me 9 samples to decide on a color! haha

Here's coat #1, its a greenish-aqua color and we are really happy with the way it turned out

And the final product, its amazing what a fresh coat of paint does for a room

Reason #2: Jim is really excited that the living room is painted because it meant he could finally set up the tv and start playing some of his new video games (he's already logged a few hours today)

Reason #3: We bought our Christmas tree and decorated it already! Even though the backdrop is a multicolored wall, plywood and the plastic barrier sheet, it's still exciting to have a Christmas tree to help get us in the Christmas spirit :)
Reason #4: Our kitchen floor tile is here and our countertop is on its way (sort of). Our granite slab should arrive at the fabricator this week. We aren't quite sure when they'll be able to schedule our installation but we're crossing our fingers it will be before the end of the month. Once the countertop is in, our sink will be in and we can get the dishwasher in. Then we'll get started on the floor. YAY!!! It might be January before all this happens, but that's still pretty close, so I'm really excited :)

The slate floor tiles

It feels good to have made more progress this week. Each step is really making our house feel more like a home and less like a construction site. The Christmas tree helps a lot too!
