Welcoming Spring!

After what seemed like a long winter and lots of rainy days lately, we are welcoming the nice spring like weather that has finally come around! The only drawback is that its also allergy season for me, but I'm muddling through and just trying to enjoy the sunny days :)

We've taken advantage of the weather by starting on some of our outdoor projects. I've continued painting the exterior and we've done some yard work as well. We've also continued to plug away at our "completion list." Some things aren't so glamorous--like patching roof leaks (I don't have a picture of that). But it still feels good to continue to move in the right direction nonetheless! Here's some of what we've been up to....

The bathroom has gotten some upgrades...we installed this glass shelf

And we had this watercolor that Jim's Grandma painted framed and it fits in nicely with the bathroom decor. It's also nice to finally get to the decorating stage!

We finally got the light fixture installed in bedroom #2

That's about all we have pictures for inside. We also finally sealed our kitchen floor and countertop, which was a tedious process to clean, seal, etc. But again, nothing really exciting to photograph.

We celebrated the spring weather by having a small cookout last night. We got out our bocce ball set and Jim and Aaron broke it in!

Me, Ellen and Cristina were the spectators :)

Today, we planted our vegetable garden. This year we have a variety of herbs, tomatoes, zucchini, yellow squash, cucumbers, and watermelon! YUM! I can't wait to see how it all turns out this year.

Here's what the front of our house looks like right now--you can see I've made some progress with painting the trim--just a few more coats ;) And now the door sticks out like a sore thumb. We haven't decided yet if we want to replace it or just paint it. We also bought new shutters, so those will go up soon too.

We bought a few plants/shrubs at the nursery today, which will hopefully be a start for us to give the front of our house some curb appeal. We need some more to fill in the space, but just got a couple to start. These will go in after we paint the base of the house--hopefully soon!
And my first tulip bloomed today too :) I planted a variety of reddish and white/cream colored ones. So I'm excited to see how they all look.

And I'll leave you with a picture of the worker bees....
